We have been in business for 36 years. Many years ago I attended my daughter's highland dancing competition wearing my original Blackwatch uniform, and carrying my Martini-Henry rifle. That started my keen interest in British Victorian era military campaigns, and shooting black powder cartridge guns and muzzle loading firearms. Since those days, I have made British military firearms, and accoutrements a major part of my business. The P1860 oil bottles, and the brass muzzle stoppers are some of the rarest Enfield rifle appendages. We hope that you will find a place for them, with your favorite rifle.

I host an on line magazine called The Soldiers of the Queen. It is devoted to the Victorian military era. I also contribute to the Snider-Enfield, and the Martini-Henry forums. These forums are directed towards the shooter and collector of the fine firearms.

We are adding to our line the Pattern 1859 cartridge pouch, and buff belt that has been altered for the Snider-Enfield rifle. These equipments were issued with the P1853 Enfield muzzle loader, the Snider-Enfield, and the

Martini-Henry rifles. Also, we will be offering the P1860 buff expense pouch, and bayonet frog. These accoutrements were still being used by English battalions on active service in India, and saw action during the Sudan Campaign in 1884. The patterns in our possession were drawn by Mr. Pierre Turner in the mid 1970’s. They were drawn from original British accoutrements in the National Army museum.

P1860 Zinc Oil Bottle

The P1860 zinc oil bottle was a standard issue implement for
use with the P1853 Enfield, the Snider-Enfield, and the Martini-Henry rifle.
There were two varieties, the seamed and seamless version. Per LoC,# 128...

This pattern, and the subsequent (seamless) pattern, were both issued with the Enfield rifle, Snider-Enfield rifle, Martini-Henry rifle. Now, a high quality reproduction, identical to the original in every respect, is available from O'Dea & Co. Military Equipments! It features a zinc body, brass top and cap and a steel applicator in the cap.

Perfect for re-enactors, collectors, and as a practical instrument to help keep your vintage British Service Rifle lubricated! The original lubrication stored in the bottle was Rangoon Oil. We are pleased to announce that we have located a source for Rangoon Oil that you can use in your P1860 oil bottles.

Two patterns of the seamed bottle are currently being offered:

1. Manufactured by "Birmingham Trade",
and is unmarked.

2. Manufactured at RSAF Enfield, and is marked with the broad arrow and "WD".

Brass Muzzle Stopper

This item was issued with all P1853 rifles, and continued on with the Snider-Enfield's. Muzzle. Stoppers were discontinued per L.o.C 1499, 25 June 1867.
